TRANSITION TO SCHOOL PROGRAM
By now most of you will be aware that we have commenced our transition to school program. Kindergarten children are visited by the foundation teachers and students in the kinder as well as your children having excursions into the foundation (prep) school classrooms. This is a wonderful opportunity for the children to become familiar with the school space and to start to introduce them to some of the expectations of them in their school life – all with the purpose of facilitating a smooth transition to school for your children. Most of these visits occur on a Tuesday morning. If you happen to arrive late on a Tuesday and cannot find us in our rooms (there will be a note on the door), please kindly ask at reception as to where you will find the foundation rooms. Your child can be signed in from there.
MEADOWS PRIMARY SCHOOL ENROLEMENT WEEK – 2nd – 6th September
But why wait until enrolment week? Meadows Primary is taking enrolments now! So, grab yourself an enrolment form from reception at the school to get your child’s enrolment in place! Early enrolment allows us to form the best possible classes that will be the learning environment for your children next year!
Meadows Primary warmly invites kinder families to partake in Breakfast Club which operates in the foyer on Tuesday and Thursday mornings! No need to arrive to kinder hungry. Have a top up and perhaps even meet some of the fabulous Meadows Primary Community!
SPEECH ENRICHMENT PROGRAM IN THE KINDER
We are very fortunate at Meadows Primary School, to have a fully funded speech enrichment program built into our kindergarten curriculum for the remainder of 2019. Each Tuesday in terms 3 & 4, a Speech Pathologist attends the kinder rooms and together with kinder staff, conducts small group activities to enhance speaking and listening abilities within our children. Should your child be identified as needing additional support in this area, complimentary individual screening can also be provided to your child through this program. Please sign your consent forms and return to the centre to ensure your child can maximise benefits from this program.
Parents, please be aware that we go outdoors to play unless it is raining…EVEN IN THE COLD! Children need oxygen and physical play to increase health and vitality as well as brain function! So, please send your children to kinder, with appropriate clothing to engage in outdoor activities each day; jacket, beanie and gloves!
RESPONSIBLE PET PROGRAM
DATES: GREEN GROUP – THURSDAY AUGUST 29
BLUE GROUP – FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 6
We are very fortunate to be having a Responsible Pet program attending kinder. The aim of this incursion is to familiarise children with dogs and to teach them safe behaviour around dogs, both familiar and unfamiliar to the child. Trained dogs and instructors are employed to conduct these sessions and they are fabulous for educating children about dogs and what they should do should they encounter a dog in the community.
VOLUNTEERS INTO THE KINDER
A reminder that we welcome parents to volunteer in the kinder! Come and lend a hand, spend some time or, perhaps you have a special story, career or talent that you can share with the children. Children love to have their parents in the kinder space!
NITS and HEAD LICE
Please be aware of the need to check your child’s head periodically especially if you notice them scratching a lot or if you see small white eggs close to the scalp. Lice can travel from head to head in young children and can be both challenging and stressful for families to rid of. Please speak to kinder staff if you need any further information around this.
Lastly for those families who celebrated Eid in August, hope you and your loved ones had a wonderful celebration!
Any questions, please ask The Meadows Kinder staff. 😊
